Prior to founding Hospitality Marketers International, Inc., Mr. Hanis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, specializing in marketing from Marquette University. Other positions Mr. Hanis has held include: Director of Sales and Marketing for Marriott Hotel in Milwaukee, Marketing Director for Hotel Managers/Hosts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marketing Director for Hotel Investors Corporation in Bethesda, Maryland, and Director of Sales and Marketing for Grand Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Hanis founded HMI in 1982 and developed this well-regarded hotel and resort consulting company to represent clients throughout the Midwest, United States and Canada. The firm evolved from providing marketing consultation to include hotel and resort development, research, and management support. Lenders, national hotel chains, and a broad list of clients extensively accept Mr. Hanis’ work. Mr. Hanis is frequently quoted on industry subjects in local, regional, and national newspapers and publications. Mr. Hanis has expertise in impact and feasibility analysis, marketing audits, market (re)positioning, marketing/strategy planning, operational audits, consultative management services, franchise selection, optimum revenue achievement, operational profit improvement, guest demand/history research, and sales training. Property types Mr. Hanis specializes in include limited and full service hotels/resorts, boutique hotels, and conference centers which are chain affiliated as well as independently branded. The International Society of Hospitality Consultants invited him to become a certified member in 1988 based upon his industry reputation and knowledge in his area of marketing expertise. As a Society member, Mr. Hanis and his staff subscribe to the Society’s Code of Professional Conduct. In addition to the International Society of Hospitality Consultants Mr. Hanis is also involved in the Wisconsin Innkeepers Association. In additional to these professional organizations, Mr. Hanis sits on the Waukesha County Technical College’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Advisory Committee and is actively involved in women's basketball coaching with previous positions at the middle school, high school, and junior college levels
